Singapore 2017|| Marveling at Marina Bay Sands and Skypark
If Dubai has the Burj Al Arab, a boat-shaped luxury hotel; then Singapore has Marina Bay Sands which is an iconic structure of a ship on top of 3 towers. It is the most expensive integrated resort ever built costing US$5.5 and one of the most popular tourist attraction in Singapore. Built by Las Vegas Sands corporation, it has become a famous landmark that gives the city a unique skyline since its official opening in 2010. A lot of tourists visit it for its luxury building that contains restaurants, hotel, exhibition centers, theaters, retailers and entertainment venues. As for me I as able to see its skypark located at its top which a 360-degree view of the whole city.
From Little India, I went to my last destination, the Marina Bay Sands to see its garden and structures. My Singapore whole day trip wouldn't be complete without seeing it. Even though I was already tired and sweating from whole morning of strolling, I still had to go to see it. From Little India station (purple line), I rode the train to Dhoby Ghaut and interchanged to yellow line going to Bayfront station, good thing it didn't take me that long. I took the exit going to the Garden and walked for around 8-10 minutes before I was finally out.I roam around and took time to see the garden and other structures.
I wished to see the Giant Trees and hundred species of faunas and flower plants, but time wouldn't permit it. It was already 4 in the afternoon and If I'd go, my time going to the airport will be shortened and I still have a plane to catch so I just settled myself in seeing it from afar. I went to the bridge and took some pictures, the Marina Bay Sands towers looks marveling in that area and I also got a good view of the Singapore Flyer and the super trees from a distance.
Later on, I went inside the Marina Bay Sands towers and inquire for the skypark admission. I walked inside the reception, the ground floor has full of arriving and departing tourists, checking in and out of the hotel while some are checking out the shops and eating at restaurants. I went to tower 3 where I bought the ticket and was lead to the elevator going to the top floor. I went to the nearest restroom first and freshened myself then finally went out to the skypark.
I was awed when I stepped outside, being on top of a 55-story building seeing a 360-degree view of the city. Some tourists were also there taking pictures and just taking time to see the Singapore from above, while others were having a chill time at the cafe and restaurant. The river is best viewed from up there, with all the famous landmarks as well, the Merlion park, Esplanade, the Flyer and Cultural center. I took some pictures, breathed in the beauty of the place before deciding to come down.
I went back to the train station and finally decided to go back to the airport. I think I already had enough for the day and had my fill of sightseeing, content now that I've seen the famous attractions in the city. My flight would be at 7pm and I only have less than 2 hours to spare. I arrived at Changi and went to baggage deposit area, claimed my luggage and settled myself in the airport lounge. I still had an almost more than an hour free time so I went to one of the restaurant and bought myself a decent meal. It was a Singaporean chicken dish with a dessert, although it looks good, I wasn't able to enjoy the taste but it was enough to fill me for the rest of the hours and flight to Philippines.
Overall, I had a great time exploring the city. When I was still planning it, I wasn't sure if I could pull it through, visiting the attractions within a limited time-frame but as what had happened, I actually made it. I've seen the enchanting temples in Chinatown, I've met the mythical Merlion and its cub, walked at the Esplanade bridge, got lost at the street arts of Little India, and I've seen and marveled at Marina Bay Sands structures and Garden, and for the finale had a 360-degree view of the city at the skypark. It was a tiring day, my legs got actually aches from hours of wandering, my feet got blisters and I got soaked in sweat while under the scorching heat of sun, but it was all worth it. It was a famous city I got to see, the people I encountered, the food I got to taste, the experience I got to enjoy all in an adventure I had for a day that made it worthwhile. Hopefully next time, I can visit it again to see and experience the other famous attractions.
